Mexican municipalities solar heater program

In late July 2026 Mexican local authorities continued a coordinated effort to provide solar water heaters to residents.

Mayor Omar Muñoz of Cuautlancingo handed out 845 units, raising the municipality’s total distribution to 1,331 heaters. The latest batch was financed with over 4.1 million pesos from municipal funds, supplementing 486 heaters previously obtained through the FAISMUN program. The initiative aims to cut LPG usage, reduce household energy costs and promote environmental protection.

Three days later, Mayor Juan Manuel Alonso Ramírez of San Martín Texmelucan completed the second phase of the “Cadena de Vivienda 2026” program, delivering 120 additional heaters. Combined with the first delivery, 240 households in Texmelucan now have the technology. The program, overseen by the Secretariat of Social Welfare, emphasizes economic savings and responsible energy practices.

Together, these actions illustrate a broader municipal push in Mexico’s Puebla region to improve living standards and sustainability through direct provision of solar heating equipment.
