Mexican political party organizational developments

Mexican political parties are focusing on organizational structures and internal cohesion ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.

In Baja California Sur, the PAN is finalizing the selection of its State Coordinator in Defense of the Homeland, Family, and Liberty for the 2027 cycle. Six candidates have registered, with a selection process involving signature gathering and surveys scheduled for late August. Concurrently, the PAZ party has postponed its National Congress to August 22 in Mexico City to establish formal leadership structures, including state presidencies and secretaries, in preparation for elections in Tamaulipas.

In Chihuahua, PAN leaders are emphasizing unity for the 2026–2027 electoral process. State party president Daniela Álvarez stated her intention to build foundations for future victories and prevent organized crime influence, identifying Ciudad Juárez as a priority for territorial strategies. Additionally, Governor Maru Campos called for internal cohesion, urging members to prioritize the rule of law and the defense of the state over personal ambitions.

Expanding on these efforts for unity, PAN leadership recently convened in Querétaro for a meeting titled ‘Por la Unidad del PAN’. The gathering included National President Jorge Romero, Querétaro Governor Mauricio Kuri González, and Senator Ricardo Anaya, among other prominent figures. Jorge Romero noted that the results in Querétaro serve as an example of what can be achieved through PAN administrations, while state president Martín Arango emphasized that the meeting was intended to demonstrate the party’s strength and teamwork in the region as they prepare for upcoming elections.
