Mexican social and legal service initiatives
Overview
Mexico has implemented various social and legal service initiatives aimed at addressing inequality and providing human rights support. The ‘Atención a las Causas’ (Attention to the Causes) strategy has coordinated 53 government institutions to deliver 8.6 million services over a two-year period. This program includes the ‘Tianguis del Bienestar’ for distributing essential items, the ‘Jóvenes Construyendo el Futuro’ program for workforce integration, and the ‘Sí al Desarme, Sí a la Paz’ initiative, which has facilitated the exchange of over 13,000 firearms for cash.
Complementing these efforts, regional institutions are providing specialized legal and human rights assistance. In the State of Mexico, the Human Rights Commission (CODHEM) offers free legal guidance to help citizens exercise their rights. Meanwhile, in Yucatán, the State Attorney General's Office reported attending to 35,528 people in August through various specialized units, including offices for crimes against children and adolescents.
