Mexican state legislative recognition of coffee producers
Overview
Legislative bodies in different Mexican states have moved to formally recognize the coffee production sector through commemorative dates.
In San Luis Potosí, the state Congress approved the declaration of July 31 as the ‘State Day of the Coffee Growers of San Luis Potosí’. This initiative, requested by the ‘Cafetaleros Unidos’ group, aims to honor the economic and cultural contributions of coffee-growing families and promote local consumption.
Similarly, committees in the State of Mexico Congress approved a proposal to designate April 24 as the ‘Day of the Mexiquense Coffee Producer’. This decree seeks to involve public and educational institutions in strengthening the sector’s competitiveness and sustainability.
