Overview

In late July 2026 Mexican authorities intensified a coordinated anti‑theft and organized‑crime crackdown across several states. Operations reported on 22 July included the recovery of illegally occupied municipal land in Michoacán, a motorcycle‑theft bust in Cancún, and arrests for violent crimes, extortion and robbery in Zacatecas, Lomas de Enmedio and Tepic.

On 25 July the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, together with the National Guard, seized 86 allegedly stolen cattle on the Las Choapas‑Ocozocoautla highway and confiscated nine stolen motorcycles, underscoring a nationwide focus on livestock and vehicle theft.

The following day, federal security agencies — the Secretaría de Marina, the Secretaría de Seguridad y Protección Ciudadana and the Fiscalía General de la República — executed three simultaneous raids in Zapopan, Jalisco, targeting properties linked to the Los Deltas cell, the armed wing of the CJNG. Six suspects, including a minor, were detained. Seized material comprised ten long‑barreled firearms, three short guns, assorted ammunition, synthetic drug doses, cash, tactical equipment, four motorcycles and two vehicles. All detainees were placed under the custody of the Federal Public Ministry for further investigation. The operation was linked to recent U.S. sanctions against the CJNG and reflects the broader strategy to dismantle organized‑crime groups.
