Mexico emergency preparedness campaign

Overview

The National Civil Protection Coordination (CNPC) in Mexico launched a social campaign to promote the use of “emergency backpacks” as part of routine disaster prevention. The initiative encourages citizens to prepare supplies for at least 72 hours to address risks such as earthquakes, hurricanes, or floods.

Following social media speculation that linked the campaign to potential wars or imminent global catastrophes, the CNPC issued a clarification. Authorities stated that the campaign is a permanent, preventive strategy and does not indicate any specific international alert or imminent disaster. The agency urged the public to rely on official channels to avoid misinformation and panic.
