Mexico vocational training program expansion
Overview
Training institutions in Mexico are expanding professional programs to address labor needs and promote human development.
In Michoacán, the Cetransporta program at ICATMI is enrolling its third generation of trainees for a six-month course starting in October. This program provides theoretical and practical training for federal and international licenses, offering participants a monthly scholarship of 9,573 pesos. To support broader professionalization, ICATMI has also signed a collaboration agreement with the municipal government of Zitácuaro and opened registration for over 850 courses across 21 campuses, covering technical skills such as truck driving, mechanics, and carpentry.
In Sonora, Icatson has enhanced its practical training capabilities by receiving a tractor-trailer unit via a loan from CANACAR. This initiative is intended to support approximately 90,000 students seeking certification, helping to mitigate a national deficit of skilled heavy vehicle operators through real-world maneuvering and coupling practice.
