Overview

A series of structural failures occurred at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital in Warangal, Telangana. On September 20, a portion of the ceiling plaster collapsed in the Aarogyasri ward of an older building, causing minor injuries to several people, including a patient and staff members. Hospital officials attributed the collapse to water seepage that had weakened the aging structure.

Two days later, a second incident occurred when ceiling plaster fell in the Respiratory Intensive Care Unit (RICU) and the physiotherapy departments. No injuries were reported during this second collapse. The repeated incidents have raised concerns regarding the safety of the state-run facility. In response to the situation, police were deployed at the hospital's main gates and media access to certain areas was restricted.
