Miami Heat roster developments
Overview
The Miami Heat have engaged in several roster moves ahead of training camp. On September 25, the organization signed forward Ian Schieffelin, an undrafted player from Clemson University, to an Exhibit 10 camp contract following his appearances in the NBA Summer League.
On September 27, the Heat signed free agent guard Dennis Smith Jr. to an Exhibit 10 contract. While the deal allows the 28-year-old to compete for a roster spot, reports suggest he is expected to return to the team’s G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce. Additionally, the team signed shooting guard Lester Quinones to compete for a two-way contract.
During media day, head coach Erik Spoelstra addressed criticisms regarding the team’s shooting and defense, stating the organization welcomes the scrutiny. Star player Giannis Antetokounmpo expressed confidence in the team’s defensive potential, noting strong preseason impressions from Davion Mitchell and Bobby Portis.
