Miami International Airport expansion and service upgrades
Overview
Miami International Airport (MIA) has entered a period of significant expansion and service diversification. The airport has initiated a 15-year, $14 billion modernization program aimed at upgrading terminals, boarding gates, baggage systems, and infrastructure to support projected growth of 77 million annual passengers and four million tons of cargo by 2040. To support this construction, authorities are acquiring 240 acres of surrounding land for logistical use.
In addition to large-scale infrastructure upgrades, the airport has launched a new premium service called PS Miami. Operating out of the former Pan American Airways headquarters, this service provides private terminal access for commercial passengers, featuring dedicated TSA and Customs facilities, chauffeur services, and private suites to bypass standard terminal crowds.
