Following the announcement that Austrian filmmaker Michael Haneke has retired from filmmaking at age 85, a comprehensive retrospective of his work is scheduled to take place in Portugal starting September 17.
Organized by Leopardo Filmes and Medeia Filmes, the event will visit multiple cities, including Lisbon, Porto, Braga, Coimbra, Figueira da Foz, and Setúbal. The program features his acclaimed films such as ‘Amour’ and ‘The White Ribbon’, as well as his ‘Glaciation Trilogy’—consisting of ‘The Seventh Continent’, ‘Benny’s Video’, and ‘71 Fragments of a Chronology of Chance’—many of which are receiving their first commercial releases in Portugal. The retrospective will also include his adaptation of Franz Kafka’s ‘The Castle’ and various television works.
