Overview

Authorities in Chile and the Dominican Republic have intensified enforcement actions regarding irregular migration.

In Antofagasta, Chile, the Investigations Police (PDI) conducted operations in commercial areas, resulting in reports for irregular entry, expired residency, and unauthorized employment, as well as one administrative expulsion order for a Venezuelan national. The operation also identified three employers hiring foreign workers without proper legal permits.

In the Dominican Republic, the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) announced legal action against individuals who obstruct migration operations, assault staff, or facilitate the stay of undocumented foreigners, including those renting spaces to irregular migrants. Director Luis Rafael Lee Ballester reported that over 705,000 foreigners have been deported during his tenure, with approximately 228,000 deportations occurring so far this year.
