Migros domestic agricultural and livestock expansion

Overview

Migros is expanding its domestic agricultural and livestock production capabilities in Turkey through significant investments and local supply chain initiatives.

In Aydın, the company has launched a 9 million Euro breeding livestock farm in the Koçarlı district. The facility, covering 140,000 square meters, aims to increase national red meat production with a target capacity of 10,000 head of cattle. The farm has already introduced 3,600 Angus and Hereford breeding cows and recorded its first 600 calf births.

Simultaneously, Migros is growing its local agricultural production model in Kayseri. Building on a green lentil initiative started in 2023, the model now includes crops such as sugar, potatoes, chickpeas, and pumpkin seeds using a crop rotation system. As part of this commitment, Migros has stopped selling imported green lentils under its private label and intends to purchase 3,000 tons of domestic green lentils from Kayseri between 2026 and 2027.
