Minas Gerais regional development and tourism initiatives

Overview

The government of Minas Gerais continues to implement programs focused on regional development, social support, and economic growth. Through the Coopera + Rio Doce project, funded by the Rio Doce Reparation Agreement, the state is providing technical and managerial assistance to cooperatives in the Rio Doce Basin. The selection process for cooperatives and associations within this project has been extended until November 11, with the goal of supporting 30 organizations to strengthen local collective economies.

Cultural and social initiatives include the allocation of R$ 8 million via the National Aldir Blanc Policy to support cultural agents across 55 municipalities in the Vale do Jequitinhonha region, aiming to decentralize financing and promote artistic diversity. Housing regularization efforts continue through the ‘Meu Lar’ project, a partnership between Cohab Minas and the Judiciary that assists residents, such as those in Machado, in securing definitive property deeds.

In the tourism and commercial sectors, the state is actively working to expand its market presence. During the Brazil Travel Market (BTM) in Fortaleza, Ceará, a Minas Gerais delegation highlighted diverse regional offerings, including the Espinhaço Mountain Range, Serra do Cipó, Peruaçu, Canastra, Caparaó Mineiro, and the Serro Cheese Route.

Economic activity has also been bolstered by the fashion industry. The 36th edition of Minas Trend in Belo Horizonte, organized by Sistema FIEMG, concluded with approximately R$ 40 million in business transactions. The event featured 124 brands and attracted 4,500 visitors, focusing on the Autumn/Winter 2027 season for apparel, footwear, bags, and jewelry.
