NFL trade deadline activity and running back speculation
Overview
The Minnesota Vikings continue to explore roster improvements ahead of the November 10 NFL trade deadline. General manager Nolan Teasley has prioritized help in the trenches, specifically targeting interior offensive and defensive linemen to support defensive coordinator Brian Flores’s scheme.
Speculation regarding high-profile running backs remains a central theme. Jonathan Taylor of the Indianapolis Colts is a primary candidate for trade as the Colts undergo a rebuild. While Colts owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon views Taylor as a mainstay, the organization is reportedly open to deals involving first-round draft value or multiple second and third-round selections. While the Vikings, Green Bay Packers, Denver Broncos, and Cincinnati Bengals have expressed interest, the New York Giants have also emerged as a contender, though they currently trail the Seattle Seahawks and Denver Broncos in betting odds to acquire him. Additionally, media analysts have suggested the Dallas Cowboys could target Taylor to improve a rushing attack that currently ranks 25th in the NFL.
In Jacksonville, the emergence of Bhayshul Tuten as the Jaguars' primary running back has led to speculation regarding backup Chris Rodriguez Jr. as a potential target for the Cincinnati Bengals. Tuten’s status remains uncertain for the Jaguars' upcoming game against the Baltimore Ravens due to a foot or ankle injury, making him a game-time decision.
