Missing persons search in Puerto Palomas

Overview

Authorities and humanitarian groups have initiated an inter-institutional search operation in the Puerto Palomas de Villa community within the Ascensión municipality near the border. Led by the State Investigation Agency (AEI) alongside local and national search commissions, the efforts have focused on the Ejido Ley 6 de Enero area and the Modelo neighborhood.

The operation includes collaboration with 12 mothers from the neighboring state of Sonora, who are working with police and justice agencies to follow clues. This collective action aims to address a decade-long trend of individuals from Sonora disappearing in the border region. During the search, brigades have been distributing investigation notices in businesses and high-traffic areas to increase visibility and solicit anonymous tips.
