Missing persons search operations in Coahuila

Overview

Search initiatives in Coahuila, Mexico, have led to the identification and location of several missing persons. An initiative titled ‘Jornada de Búsqueda en Vida’, organized by the collective ‘Juntos en Acción por Nuestros Desaparecidos en la Región Centro de Coahuila’, has focused on visiting prisons, rehabilitation centers, and municipalities to locate individuals.

In late September, a man was located at the Piedras Negras Penitentiary. Subsequent reports following a National Search Day between September 21 and October 1 indicated that the Coahuila Search Commission and the Universidad Iberoamericana Human Rights Program documented 31 potential positive cases through operations in cities such as Monclova and Ciudad Acuña.

In a separate instance, a woman named Yadira Sarahí Rivas del Bosque, who had been missing since 2013, was identified at the Saltillo General Hospital after seeking treatment. The hospital notified the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for the Search of Missing Persons in Coahuila to formalize her identification.
