A search operation was launched off the coast of Crete following the disappearance of a windsurfer. Initial efforts involved port vessels and aerial assets to locate the individual. During the search, his windsurfing board was recovered near Dia, a finding described by experts as concerning because it is a primary safety tool.

The operation, which included the Hellenic Coast Guard, the Hellenic Rescue Team, and FRONTEX assets, concluded when the body of the windsurfer, identified as Nikos Chalkiadakis, was discovered floating in the sea near Gouves. Relatives identified the body using his watch and pendant.
