Overview

In July 2026, German broadcaster ZDF announced that the crime series “München Mord” would carry on despite the sudden death of actor Alexander Held, who played Commissioner Ludwig Schaller. The network scheduled the airing of two unaired episodes featuring Held – the penultimate episode on 22 August and a final episode later in the year – and confirmed that filming of new episodes would begin in autumn 2026, with the character not being recast immediately.

A few days later ZDF revealed a further cast change: cabaret artist Eva Karl Faltermeier would join the show as Kriminaloberrätin Dr. Linda Hösl, taking over as head of the investigative team after the departure of Christoph Süß. Two episodes with Faltermeier had already been filmed, with the first slated for the same 22 August broadcast. Production for additional episodes was set to continue through the autumn season, while the remaining original cast members would stay on the series.
