Moldova EVO digital identity banking integration

Overview

Moldova’s eGovernance Agency has integrated digital identity credentials from its EVO government application into the banking sector. Four institutions—Moldindconbank, FinComBank, EuroCreditBank, and Victoriabank—now allow customers to verify their identity via QR code scanning to share consent-based information.

This initiative seeks to replace physical identity documents and reduce manual data entry. The project aligns with the European Digital Identity Wallet framework to ensure interoperability, a priority for Moldova as an EU candidate country. The platform has already undergone testing for digital identities and driving licenses with several European nations, including France, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, the Netherlands, Croatia, Romania, and Ukraine.
