Moldova urban mobility legislative developments

Overview

The Moldovan government has approved a draft law on sustainable urban mobility to manage a growing number of vehicles. The legislation introduces new regulations for traffic organization, public transport development, and paid parking management. Under the proposed rules, local authorities would gain the power to block the wheels of vehicles with unpaid parking fees and to evacuate abandoned cars. Specifically, vehicles left in one location for at least six months may be identified as abandoned, with owners given 15 days to reclaim them before ownership transfers to the local government. The draft law is now set to be examined by Parliament.
