Moldovan legislative and agricultural reforms

Overview

The Parliament of the Republic of Moldova has engaged in a series of legislative activities focused on European Union alignment and domestic regulation. Initial sessions involved examining 13 projects, including efforts to align national laws with EU standards, modifying audiovisual media services codes, and discussing the denunciation of two cooperation agreements within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).

Subsequent legislative actions focused on the agricultural sector. The Parliament passed a draft law regulating small-scale farms in rural settlements, establishing specific livestock limits for non-professional animal holdings to protect public health and the environment. This regulation requires local council approval and compliance with sanitary and urban planning standards. Additionally, new measures were introduced to increase the traceability of veterinary medicines through electronic registration systems and stricter penalties for unregistered animal purchases.
