Montenegro agricultural infrastructure development
Overview
Montenegro has inaugurated two new Agriculture Houses in northern municipalities to centralize support services for producers.
On October 5, 2026, Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Vladimir Joković opened a 1.6 million euro facility in Berane. The center is intended to serve Berane and surrounding municipalities, including Andrijevica, Petnjica, Rožaje, Plav, and Gusinje, by housing the Regional Office of the Payment Agency, advisory services, and inspection bodies. The Minister noted that this is part of a broader investment cycle in northern Montenegro, citing over 10 million euros in ministry investments in the Berane municipality over the last four years.
Following this, on October 7, 2026, a 2.2 million euro Agriculture House opened in Pljevlja. This facility also aims to consolidate the Regional Office of the Payment Agency, advisory services, and various inspection bodies from the Food Safety, Veterinary, and Phytosanitary Administration. Minister Joković described the opening as a significant step for the region, noting Pljevlja’s importance to livestock and agricultural production.
