Montenegro military site repurposing
Overview
The Montenegrin government and Ministry of Defense have initiated processes to repurpose former military locations for civilian use.
In Tivat, the Ministry of Defense proposed transforming seven sites, including the ‘Lepetane’ barracks and ‘Prevlaka’, into tourism, sports, and residential areas. These proposals are currently under consideration as part of the Spatial-Urban Plan for Tivat.
In Pljevlja, the government has decided to transfer the ‘Dom vojske’ (Army Home) facility to the local municipality. The building is slated for reconstruction into a sports and tourism center intended to support local athletes and stimulate the regional economy.
