Montenegro railway labor dispute
Overview
Railway workers in Montenegro, represented by the United Union of Railway Transport (ŽPCG), are pursuing a salary increase of 200 euros. The union claims their current earnings are the lowest among railway company employees.
Following a one-hour warning strike at the Podgorica railway station that suspended rail traffic, union representatives are scheduled to meet with Transport Minister Radoš Zečević to discuss labor demands. Union president Miroslav Babović noted that 210 employees have signed the strike statement.
The union has been submitting these requests since August 3, but claims they have not received a concrete offer or an invitation to negotiate until now. A subsequent union assembly will determine if further protests or industrial actions are necessary.
Negotiations are currently pending a response from the Ministry of Finance regarding budget rebalancing. This financial adjustment is considered necessary to fulfill the workers' demands and finalize a new collective agreement.
