Moroccan government diaspora engagement initiatives
Overview
Morocco has implemented several initiatives to engage and support its diaspora. During Opération Marhaba 2026, the cultural organization Bab Moulay Driss distributed 6,000 heritage-themed welcome kits to Moroccans living abroad arriving at the Tanger Med port.
To further strengthen ties, the Ministry of National Territory Planning, Urban Planning, Housing and City Policy launched a mobile service caravan titled "Urban Planning and Housing at the Service of Moroccans of the World." Initiated in Tangier, this fully equipped mobile agency travels to various cities, including Casablanca, Rabat, Marrakech, Agadir, Oujda, Meknes, Errachidia, Beni Mellal, and Laayoune.
The caravan provides a dedicated space for diaspora members to consult with representatives from the ministry, urban agencies, and the Al Omrane Group. Through this program, citizens abroad can access guidance on real estate offers, investment opportunities, and the direct housing support program. This initiative is part of a broader national campaign that includes establishing reception points at ports, airports, and high-speed train stations, alongside organizing open days and expanding digital access via Al Omrane's online platform.
