Moroccan professional sectors engage new government

Overview

Following the appointment of Fatima Zahra Mansouri as Morocco’s first female head of government, various professional sectors have called for formal engagement with the new administration.

The Moroccan Confederation of Very Small, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (VSEs/SMEs) issued a statement urging the government to convert 13 priority demands into concrete commitments. The group requested that these demands be integrated into the 2027 finance bill and emphasized the need for institutionalized dialogue to support the small business sector, which they note constitutes over 98 percent of the country’s business fabric.

Similarly, the Moroccan Federation of Newspaper Publishers expressed support for the appointment but called for a national strategic plan to address challenges in the press and publishing sector. The Federation noted that the industry faced “marginalization and exclusion” during the previous five-year term and requested serious dialogue to rescue the national media sector.
