Morocco critical minerals development
Overview
Morocco is advancing its critical minerals sector through both domestic resource development and international strategic partnerships.
At the project level, Critical Mineral Resources PLC is preparing a maiden JORC Mineral Resource Estimate for the Agadir Melloul copper project, expected in October 2026. Concurrently, Steadright Critical Minerals has begun infrastructure work for a pilot plant at the Titan Beach titanium project, utilizing a state-owned engineering group for construction and operations.
On a diplomatic and industrial scale, Morocco has signed a memorandum of understanding with the United States to cooperate on critical mineral investments. This occurs alongside the completion of Africa’s first battery gigafactory in Kenitra by Chinese manufacturer Gotion High-Tech, which is slated to begin production in the third quarter of 2026 following an African Development Bank loan.
