Motorcycle crash fatalities in India

Within a span of a few days in late July 2026, several fatal motorcycle crashes were reported across India. On July 25, two separate incidents in Rajasthan's Kotputli‑Bahadri and Dhaulpur districts resulted in five deaths, including a brother‑in‑law, sister‑in‑law and two cousins, as well as serious injuries. Causes under investigation included a container placed on a flyover and a vehicle collision on a bridge, prompting calls for stricter speed enforcement and improved highway safety.

Three days later, additional crashes were recorded. In Fatehpur, Rajasthan, a motorcyclist was killed after an unidentified vehicle struck his bike and fled, leading police to gather CCTV footage. In Gumla district, Jharkhand, two brothers died when their bike lost control on the Kharka bridge; excessive speed and lack of helmets were cited as likely factors. Authorities opened investigations for each accident.

The sequence of events underscores ongoing concerns about road safety for motorcyclists in India, with investigations focusing on infrastructure hazards, reckless driving, and helmet use, and authorities urging stronger enforcement of traffic regulations.
