Overview
Mozambique is seeing significant investment in infrastructure and energy development aimed at improving community welfare and national electricity access.
Sasol, a South African petrochemical multinational, announced plans to invest over $143 million in social responsibility projects in Mozambique by 2030. This includes $43 million dedicated to 70 communities in Inhambane province for water, sanitation, rural electrification, and essential infrastructure like roads and health centers.
In a separate energy initiative, Electricidade de Moçambique (EDM) and VBC entered a public-private partnership to build a 45-megawatt solar plant in Sofala province. Estimated at approximately $69 million, the project is part of the ‘Energia para Todos’ (Energy for All) programme, which seeks to achieve universal electricity access in the country by 2030.
