Mérida urban renovation and cultural initiatives

The municipal government of Mérida, Yucatán, has undertaken several urban renovation and beautification projects to enhance the city’s cultural identity and public spaces.

Building on these efforts, the city announced the ‘Ciudad con Arte y Cultura’ initiative as part of the broader ‘Mérida Enchula’ strategy. This project aims to democratize art through the installation of public sculptures and paintings, as well as the renovation of 11 city roundabouts. Key planned installations include a replica of the Estela 18 de Uxmal at Paseo de Montejo, created by artisans from Muna, and various sculptures by Yucatecan and Oaxacan artists intended to create new cultural and tourist nodes.
