Murder investigation of Marjulin Daiuru Briceño Arrieta
Overview
Denton police and the FBI initiated a search for 49-year-old Richard Pastor Perez following the disappearance of his estranged wife, 42-year-old Marjulin Daiuru Briceño Arrieta, on September 28. Investigators found Briceño Arrieta’s vehicle abandoned near an apartment where she was last seen, noting that license plates from her car and Perez’s vehicle had been swapped. Surveillance data tracked the vehicle from Texas to Albuquerque, New Mexico, where Perez was seen abandoning the car at a hotel.
Authorities later confirmed the death of Briceño Arrieta, a Venezuelan national, following forensic and DNA analysis. A murder warrant has been issued for Perez, who remains at large. Before her disappearance, Briceño Arrieta had reportedly sent a voice message to a relative stating, “I am here, but I do not feel safe.” A $2,000 reward has been offered for information leading to Perez’s capture.
