Nagpur bank robbery and arrest

Overview

A 28-year-old man, identified as Suraj Borkar, was arrested following an attempted robbery at a State Bank of India (SBI) branch in Nagpur, Maharashtra. During the incident, the masked suspect threw red chilli powder into the eyes of bank employees to cause panic and temporary blindness.

While staff were incapacitated, the suspect seized a bag containing between approximately Rs 4 lakh and Rs 4.53 lakh in cash. Following a pursuit by bank employees and local police, Borkar was apprehended about one kilometer from the bank within 30 minutes. Authorities successfully recovered the full amount of the stolen cash.

Subsequent reports indicate the suspect was unemployed and facing significant debt resulting from failed stock market speculations.
