Nam Dinh General Hospital infrastructure issues

Nam Dinh General Hospital in Ninh Binh province, a facility inaugurated only one year ago with a total investment of 1,775 billion VND, has faced significant structural issues involving water leakage and mold.

Initial reports indicated that water was leaking from ceilings in several key areas, including the outpatient examination lobby, the Infectious Diseases Department, and various emergency rooms. In the Oncology Center and some inpatient rooms, staff and patients were forced to use plastic buckets and basins to catch dripping water, creating slippery floors and safety risks.

By late September, authorities reported that approximately 20 instances of leakage and seepage had been largely addressed. Technical assessments attributed the problems to inadequate drainage during heavy rains, debris blocking drainage holes, and peeling sealant on glass doors.

Repair efforts by the Ninh Binh Construction Project Management Board No. 2 and relevant contractors include installing corrugated iron sheets in settlement gaps, adding overflow pipes, and servicing the central air conditioning system to prevent condensation leaks. Maintenance is also underway to address moldy walls in the Infectious Diseases Department, with a target completion date for remaining issues set for October 2026.
