Narcotics enforcement in Thailand

Overview

In mid-September 2026, Thai authorities conducted significant narcotics enforcement operations resulting in large-scale methamphetamine seizures.

On September 15, highway police in Prachuap Khiri Khan province intercepted a van carrying 464 kilograms of methamphetamine, valued at approximately 500 million baht. The driver, a 23-year-old man, reportedly attempted to evade police by crashing into a residential fence before being apprehended.

Following this, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) executed a nationwide crackdown known as ‘Operation Blacklist Hunt.’ Conducted between September 4 and September 11, the operation targeted 16 locations both within Thailand and abroad. This resulted in the arrest of 16 suspects, including five high-priority individuals and 11 alleged district-level distributors. Authorities seized over 1 million methamphetamine pills and 514 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, alongside vehicles and firearms, with the total value of seized assets estimated at more than 120 million baht.
