National drone competition in Mexico
Overview
The 2026 National Drone Competition, specifically the UAV/RPAV-1 Circuit, was held in Mexico City during World Space Week. Organized by the Mexican Council of Aerospace Education (COMEA) and the Aerospace Development Center (CDA) of the National Polytechnic Institute (IPN), the event featured various public and private institutions demonstrating skills in unmanned aerial vehicle design and operation.
During the competition, students from the Universidad Politécnica de Chihuahua (UPCH) secured first place in the cargo circuit, synchronized flight, and the global ‘All Around’ recognition, while also earning second place in speed and maze tests. Additionally, students from the Universidad Autónoma de Chihuahua (UACH) participated through their AIAA student chapter using a self-manufactured drone, while members of their COMEA student chapter assisted with the installation and coordination of the charging circuit category.
