National Rally of Independents electoral positioning
Overview
Leaders of the National Rally of Independents (RNI) in Morocco have begun defending the government’s record as the party prepares for upcoming elections.
Mohammed Oujar, a member of the RNI Political Bureau, asserted that the administration under Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch has fulfilled many commitments despite challenges such as drought, the COVID-19 pandemic, and the war in Ukraine. He emphasized that the party’s strength is built on continuous field organization rather than short-term campaigning.
During a party meeting in Aglou, RNI president Mohamed Chouki reiterated that while social and public policies have placed the country on the right track, the next phase must focus on accelerating progress and correcting imbalances in sectors like health, education, and rural infrastructure. Chouki noted that the RNI does not claim perfection but is prepared to defend its decisions and acknowledge unfulfilled goals. He criticized opponents for attempting to distance themselves from past responsibilities during “election fever” and called for political debate to be based on programs rather than personal attacks.
Expanding on this strategy at a meeting in Ain Jouhara, Chouki described the party’s transition from a phase of listening to a “path of achievements” and a “path to the future.” He criticized the “auction of promises” practiced by some politicians, arguing that programs must be based on executable figures rather than empty rhetoric. Chouki highlighted the party’s record, citing a 95 percent project implementation rate in the health sector and progress with the “Pioneer Schools” initiative. He also noted the party’s advocacy for increased budgetary resources for local authorities and expressed confidence in the RNI’s organizational readiness for the next national elections.
