Navarre environmental and technological initiatives

The Government of Navarre has initiated several environmental and technological programs. In late August, an agreement was signed between the Government of Navarre, the Bardenas Community, and NASERTIC to establish the ‘Living Lab IoT’ in Bardenas Reales. This public innovation laboratory will use LoRaWAN wireless technology and low-energy sensors to support research in biodiversity, agriculture, and climate change adaptation. Concurrently, 15.3 million euros were allocated from the 2026 Waste Fund to improve waste prevention, collection, and treatment, with specific funds designated for local infrastructure and health impact mitigation.

By late September, the regional government expanded its environmental focus to energy efficiency. It approved over 13 million euros in aid, sourced from the National Energy Efficiency Fund (FNEE), to support small and medium-sized enterprises, large industrial companies, and tertiary sector buildings. This initiative aims to reduce high energy consumption levels in industry and buildings, aligning with the National Integrated Energy and Climate Plan 2023-2030.
