NBA broadcasting expansion in Portugal
Overview
Starting with the 2026/27 season, NBA broadcasting in Portugal is set to expand to Disney Plus. Under a reported 10-year agreement between ESPN and Disney Plus, the platform will host NBA content through the 2035/36 season.
The coverage is expected to include selected regular-season games, Playoff games, Conference Finals, and the NBA Finals. Other events, such as the NBA Draft, the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game, and select NBA Summer League games, are also anticipated. Disney stated that ESPN will handle production and coverage, featuring English-language commentary and specialized analysis.
While Disney Plus will offer up to 24 playoff games, including all NBA Finals games, it remains unclear if existing broadcasters like Amazon Prime Video or SportTV will cease their coverage. Reports suggest SportTV may continue to broadcast over 200 games per season.
