NDDC youth skill development initiatives
Overview
The Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) has launched several training programmes aimed at fostering economic growth and entrepreneurship among youths in the Niger Delta region.
In late October 2026, the NDDC partnered with the University of Port Harcourt to conduct a four day technical training programme in film production. This initiative sought to equip filmmakers with professional expertise and encourage the telling of authentic regional stories.
Following this, the NDDC concluded a fashion and garment design training programme in Port Harcourt. During the graduation of 30 beneficiaries, NDDC Managing Director Dr. Samuel Ogbuku stated that the commission intends to address unemployment by providing skills that allow young people to establish businesses. He also announced future plans to introduce training in artificial intelligence and other technological fields.
