Neo-Nazi rally controversy in Trentino, Italy

An international neo-Nazi rally titled ‘Ritorno a Camelot’ is scheduled to take place from September 3 to 6 in the Trentino region. Organized by the Veneto Fronte Skinheads, the event is expected to attract extremists from Europe and Canada, featuring ‘Rock Against Communism’ (RAC) concerts.

Italian opposition politicians have called for the event to be banned, citing concerns that it promotes ideologies violating the Italian Constitution. Angelo Bonelli, a deputy for Alleanza Verdi e Sinistra (AVS), submitted a parliamentary inquiry to Interior Minister Matteo Piantedosi, noting the involvement of the neo-Nazi organization Blood & Honour, which has faced sanctions in the United Kingdom for inciting terrorism.

In response to the potential for racial hatred, antisemitism, and fascist violence, the Prefect of Trentino, Isabella Fusiello, has convened the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security to evaluate necessary countermeasures. Critics have noted that such groups often attempt to frame these gatherings as private events to bypass legal requirements for notifying authorities of public demonstrations.
