Overview

The NNPC Exploration and Production Limited (NEPL) and Seplat Energy Joint Venture (JV) has launched educational initiatives in Nigeria focused on improving science and teaching standards.

Initial efforts included the establishment of two Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) laboratories at Zappa Basic Secondary School and Asagba Mixed Secondary School in Delta State. These facilities were designed to provide students with practical, hands-on learning to supplement theoretical instruction. Alongside the laboratory setup, the JV commenced the 2026 Seplat Teachers Empowerment Programme (STEP) in Edo State, aiming to train 500 teachers in modern teaching methods.

Following the launch, the JV officially inaugurated the fully equipped STEAM laboratories in Asaba, Delta State. As part of this phase, the initiative also provided training to 500 teachers across Delta State in contemporary STEAM-based teaching methods to facilitate student-centered learning.
