Netflix expansion of Latin American content

Netflix has expanded its Latin American content library, highlighted by the addition of classic Mexican cinema and regional documentaries.

In mid-August, the platform announced a collection of 35 classic films starring the iconic comedian Cantinflas, including ‘El bolero de Raquel’ and ‘El gendarme desconocido’. This initiative, titled ‘Que México se vea’, serves as a tribute to the actor and celebrates Netflix’s 15th anniversary in Mexico. The collection spans nearly four decades of his career, offering approximately 66 hours of content. Featured titles include ‘Si yo fuera diputado’, ‘Su excelencia’, ‘El padrecito’, and ‘El analfabeto’. The selection is scheduled to remain available on the platform through March 2027 to introduce the work of one of the most significant figures of the Golden Age of Mexican cinema to younger generations.

The expansion also includes new original projects such as ‘Facing El Chapo’, ‘Surviving Hurricane Otis’, and ‘35 días’. By early September, the platform confirmed the availability of the Cantinflas collection and announced the September 3 release of ‘Fito Páez: El mundo cabe en una canción’, a documentary exploring the 40-year career of the Argentine singer-songwriter.
