Netherlands infrastructure maintenance and service updates

Overview

Rijkswaterstaat has announced several infrastructure projects and service changes across the Netherlands. Maintenance on the A73 motorway near Ewijk involves closing the southbound direction between the Ewijk junction and the Wijchen exit from October 23 to October 26 to apply a new asphalt layer and replace an expansion joint.

Additionally, night-time closures are scheduled on the A1 motorway towards Amsterdam between late October and mid-November. These works will focus on ramps and parallel lanes between the Eemnes and Muiderberg junctions, including specific disruptions at Blaricum and Hilversum-Noord.

Regarding transport services, the free shuttle bus for cyclists on the Afsluitdijk will be suspended starting November 1 due to low winter ridership. To address cyclist needs during dike reinforcement works, temporary bicycle bridges are planned at an estimated cost of 5 million euros.
