Netherlands urban pedestrian monitoring initiative

Overview

The Netherlands has launched the Dutch Pedestrian Monitor (Nederlandse Voetgangersmonitor), an initiative designed to collect data on how residents experience walking within their municipalities. Dennis van Sluijs, an advisor at Arcadis, stated that the collected data will assist municipalities in identifying specific bottlenecks and implementing measures to improve the quality of public spaces and urban walking environments.
