New South Wales speed camera installations

In early August 2026, Transport for NSW expanded its road‑safety enforcement with two separate camera deployments. On 10 August, a red‑light speed camera was installed at the intersection of Princes Highway and Plunkett Street in Nowra, following a month‑long warning period during which drivers received notices but no fines. The device targets speeding and red‑light running after a history of crashes and injuries at the site.

A few days later, two fixed speed cameras were reinstated on the Pacific Highway at Sandgate after a three‑year removal for road works. The northbound unit returned to its original spot, while the southbound unit was shifted slightly north. Like the Nowra installation, these cameras operated in a warning mode for at least a month before fines and demerit points were applied. Both measures are presented by Transport for NSW executive Duncan Lucas as part of an ongoing effort to reduce serious crashes and fatalities on NSW roads.
