New York City mental health service expansion

New York City has expanded its mental health infrastructure through both physical facilities and digital resources.

In late September 2026, officials announced the opening of two new physical sites. In the Bronx, Venture House Bronx was established as a permanent clubhouse in Fordham Heights to provide community-based support, including art studios and wellness centers, for individuals with conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder. In Brooklyn, the Bridge to Home facility launched in Crown Heights to provide transitional housing and clinical services for approximately 50 guests moving from inpatient care toward permanent housing.

By October 2026, the city introduced NYC Mental Health Connect, a digital platform funded by the New York State Office of Mental Health. The website is designed to address barriers to care, such as residents not knowing where to seek help, by allowing users to locate over 600 providers. The platform enables users to filter for specific needs, including language, insurance, and service type, covering outpatient care, crisis intervention, and substance use disorder treatment.
