Nexon Blue Archive publishing transition in Japan

Overview

Nexon has announced it will take over the Japanese publishing rights for the mobile RPG Blue Archive from Yostar, effective January 2027. The transition aims to centralize development, operations, and intellectual property management under the Nexon group, as the developer, NEXON Games, already manages publishing in other regions.

To facilitate the change, players must complete account migration procedures by linking Yostar IDs to Nexon accounts to avoid potential loss of access, though all in-game data and paid currency will be carried over. Nexon is also preparing a new environment for the PC version of the game.

Producer Yong-ha Kim has indicated ambitions to expand the Blue Archive brand into various media, including animation, manga, and novels, as well as new game genres such as third-person shooters, strategy RPGs, and survival games. While the company has invited partners to discuss a potential trading-card game, no formal agreements have been reached.
