NexPhone multi-OS smartphone development

Overview

Nex Computer announced the NexPhone, a smartphone designed to support Android, Debian Linux, and Windows 11 on a single hardware platform. The device features a Qualcomm QCM6490 chipset, 12 GB of RAM, and a 6.58-inch 120 Hz display. It is designed for desktop-like functionality via USB-C connectivity and is built to meet military durability standards.

Initially scheduled for release in late 2026, the company has delayed delivery until March 2027. CEO Emre Kosmaz attributed the delay to technical hardware challenges involving antenna placement, signal interference near the USB-C port, and chassis quality. Consequently, the device is now expected to ship with Android 17 instead of Android 16. Additionally, due to rising component costs, the pre-order price for new customers has increased from $549 to $599.
