Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton rivalry details

Nico Rosberg has provided retrospective insights into his professional relationship and rivalry with former Mercedes teammate Lewis Hamilton.

Regarding their 2016 season, Rosberg revealed that Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff considered dismissing both drivers following their collision at the Spanish Grand Prix. Wolff reportedly discussed the possibility of termination with then-CEO Dieter Zetsche after the incident benefited Red Bull. However, Wolff opted against firing the duo because he could not determine who was at fault. Instead, the drivers were required to sign a contract accepting responsibility for 50% of the costs of any damages caused by their collisions.

Rosberg also addressed Hamilton’s recent claims regarding interest in joining Ferrari. While Hamilton suggested he had considered moving to the Italian team during his dominant years at Mercedes, Rosberg characterized this narrative as “completely absurd,” arguing that Hamilton had no desire to leave the team at that time.
